The Ascot Lot Food Truck Park is one the newest in Melbourne’s western suburbs, Moonee Ponds. They just turned 2 this weekend, in fact.
The Ascot Lot food truck park was previously an old car yard but has been transformed to a colourful venue that boasts a variety of food trucks with delicious savoury and sweet options, two bars and a band stage.
What’s on at The Ascot Lot Food Truck Park?
The western suburbs are still growing and the Ascot Lot is a fantastic addition to the scene. There are a variety of different events to choose from over the weekends and I just learned that they sell coffee during week days now too for those passing who need their morning hit.
Weekends are for games
There is always something fun happening on a weekend, from funky trivia to drag bingo. They even have a ‘drinks and doggos’ day where you can bring your pooch along. How cute is that?!
Food trucks on rotation
There is something new to try most weeks and they publish the food truck line up on their website, so be sure to check it out and plan ahead.
Being Scottish, I love anything that makes me feel closer to home so when I saw there would be a haggis food truck station, The Kilted Haggis, I knew we had to go. I don’t usually eat haggis but on this occasion, I couldn’t pass it by.
We also got talking to the lovely owners of The Kilted Haggis – Liz and Colin who are originally from Glasgow. Liz was telling me all about her move out to Australia and how she is building her business. They were so lovely and down to earth – just the way every good Scottish person is ;).
There’s something about a live band that changes the vibe. You’ll get to enjoy the ambiance of the band from the outdoor bar at the Ascot Lot food truck park, where the band usually kicks off around 6pm.
You must book a space
This could be deemed a help or hindrance. You can rock-up to the food trucks and stand however it’s highly recommended to book as space, especially when there is an event on. Plus on the positive, it means you are guaranteed a seat and not chasing around the place trying to spot someone whose about to leave.
The Ascot Lot’s website is great for keeping up to speed on the upcoming events and food trucks. Why not sign up to receive their emails too? You won’t be disappointed as you’ll get a free Espresso Martini!
- The Ascot Lot is great for families. There’s lots of room for prams, strollers and for little ones to mosey around.
- Its dog friendly too! Check out their doggo bingo day I mentioned earlier. We are already planning when we can go when they’re doing this event so we can get to see all the beautiful pooches.
- This may just be the best one…you get a free espresso martini – I repeat, a free cocktail, when you sign up to their emails. Now that’s worth doing!
- Lastly, they host functions too, so if you have an upcoming event it’s worth reaching out to enquire as the space is fab. There are indoor heaters and it has a dedicated bar space for you and your crew.
I’d highly recommend a visit to The Ascot Lot one weekend. If you’re looking for some more inspiration for what to do in Melbourne, check out my other posts here.
Until next time,
