Balancing a full time job, blogging, maintaining friendships, relationships, a social life, a fitness schedule, healthy eating and just general adult stuff can be tough to juggle. By no means am I playing the victim here but sometimes it can just feel a bit much, ya know!? So the thought of having one less thing to think about has been extremely appealing of late. As such, I’d been considering trialling a healthy food prep/ready meal delivery service.
Some of my work colleagues were eating Super Nature Super Foods frozen meals and others were loving the HelloFresh life, so I was aware of a few different options. But when I realised I was one of the lucky Instagram winners of a recent Youfoodz competition (thanks so much!), I was pretty damn excited as it came at the perfect time.
Youfoodz’s whole philosophy as a brand is saving people time and they say, “by taking over the grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning, we save the average person up to 15 hours a week!’. Wow that’s a lotta hours that could be spent doing other things. I’m down with that.
As soon as I found out that I’d won, I went straight onto their website and ordered some of their main meals. They have breakfast options which start at around $4 per serve, and main meals which average at around $10 per meal. You can also get snacks, protein balls and juices which can be built into meal plans or purchased separately.
So what meals did I get?I tend to cook quite healthily anyway but the thought of not having to think up meals an cook from scratch was extremely appealing. They have some ‘super clean’ options but meals outside that range are flavoursome healthy alternatives. As I have a full time job, I was looking for meals that I could take to work for lunch, and opted for:
- Pesto Pumpkin Risotto
- BBQ Chicken Wrap
- Teriyaki Chicken & Tokyo Potatoes (still to try)
- Straya Beef Pie (for Ali, he said it was okay but was not a huge fan)
- Roast Lamb & Veg
How amazing do they look? The packaging is so vibrant and enticing….
Let’s talk about the juices
I’ve been loving them and have noticed such a difference in my skin, so much so that I went to work twice without foundation on! That’s really saying something… juices plus the combination of my new skincare products (read all about that here) is really working wonders.
I received three different juice kinds…
Awaken (the orange one)
This is by far my favourite. It’s made with carrot, orange, green apple, strawberry and passionfruit and it really reminds me of a juice from Wagaamammas (drool! God do I miss their Katsu curry!).
One in a Melon (the red one)
The flavour of this one is palatable but it is my least favourite. I’ve got a thing about mint in juices, meals and cocktails…so maybe it’s that! This one’s made with watermelon, green apple, strawberry, mint and beetroot. The colour however is amazing!
Green Machine (funnily enough, the green one)
On days when I know I won’t be having any veggies,I opt for this bad boy. It really hits the spot and makes me feel clean. I get a bit weird every time I read that there’s broccoli in it for some reason (weird as I love cooked broccoli) but otherwise it is a winner for me. This one’s made with green apple, pineapple, broccoli, cucumber, zucchini, kale, mint and spinach. There’s that mint again!!
Have you ever tried Youfoodz before, or any other meal delivery options? I’d love to know your thoughts and recommendations.
