I’ve been making new connections in the blogging sphere recently and it was lovely to open up a notification from Sal (from StrictlySal) who had nominated me for The Liebster Award.
The Liebster Award is an online-only award and follows similar principles to a chain letter. It is passed along (or in this case, awarded) to bloggers, by other bloggers, and acts as a way for new blogs/bloggers to be discovered. It’s also a great way to connect with and support the blogging community.
Thanks again to StrictlySal for the award and questions. Let’s get started…
What’s your holy grail beauty product?
It is not very glamourous, nor potentially considered a ‘beauty’ product, but the one thing I have always sworn by is (are you ready for it?), Sudocrem! Yep, I’m talking about the antiseptic healing cream commonly associated with babies and nappy rash – sounds lush doesn’t it? HOWEVER, it works serious wonders for clearing up any breakouts and as a fab overall ‘fixer’!!
Okay, let me redeem myself! I also couldn’t live without the Benefit They’re Real Mascara! I don’t have very thick lashes, so I’ll take all the help I can get!
What’s your favourite TV Series?
It’s funny as I was never really into TV series that much growing up (although I did LOVE Friends!); I was more into magazines and online videos etc.
My significant other half was the one who introduced me to sooooo many great series like Suits, House of Cards, Power, Lucifer etc. but I have to say my favourite one at the moment is Game of Thrones. Who else is pining for the last episode?! Who will sit on the Iron Throne?
Which celeb would you like to invite for dinner and why?
(How good are these questions?!) For me, it’s a toss-up between Morgan Freeman and Robin Williams. Sadly, since Robin is no longer alive I will go with Morgan Freeman. Not only Morgan a great actor but I am so intrigued by his views and life experience. I just think he’d be such a charming and genuine guy who you could chat about everything & anything with.
What is your most proudest achievement in life?
My most proudest achievement in life is winning a Marketing Apprentice award when I was just around 16/17 years old. I worked with a fantastic social enterprise and charity called Space Unlimited on a brief for the ‘Homecoming Scotland’ Visit Scotland campaign during my secondary school days. I presented the campaign idea, alongside 4 other peers, in front of a room of CEO’s and professionals… and WON! At the time, it was such an overwhelming experience and was the first real experience of public speaking; something I found so valuable . It is my most proudest achievement as I gained ‘soft skills’ that weren’t taught to you at school and I will always be thankful to the Space Unlimited team!
If you won the lottery, what would you spend it on?
I’ve always been pretty sensible when it comes to money but I’d definitely divide the sum up amongst family and friends; enjoying some great meals and a few bottles of bubbly to celebrate! I’d fly my whole family out to Australia for a big party and then go travelling around the world with my partner. I’d also give funds to selected charities that are close to my heart. I’d also like to save some for a rainy day; to invest in property or start my own business.
Are you are Coffee or Tea person?
Eek! I was always a tea-jenny but since moving to Melbourne and experiencing the most delicious coffee EVER , I’d have to say coffee. I still love tea on days when I’m not feeling great though. It’s true what they say peeps, Melbourne slowly but surely turns you into a bit of a coffee snob!
If someone asked you to recommend a holiday destination, where would you recommend and why?
I’ve always loved discovering new places but Spain has to be one of my favourites!
I studied for nearly 6 months in a place called Huelva, which is located on the south-east coast. It’s around 1 hour’s drive from Portugal (you drive across the border which is pretty cool, if you fly into Portugal) and roughly the same distance from Seville.
Huelva is so beautiful and completely unspoiled by tourism. It was Spain in a way I’d never the experienced before – authentic. Everything from the architecture, the rituals of the local community, the tiled floors… it was just sublime. I even witnessed a wedding in one of the town halls and it was everything you’d ever image on an español-themed pinterest board, so dreamy!
In short, I’d recommend selecting a spot which is a little more rugged (but of course safe) and explore the true beauty of a country with some great company.
Phew! That was fun.
